Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), also known as bio-identical hormone therapy or natural hormone therapy, is a term referring to the use of hormones that are identical on a molecular level with endogenous hormones in hormone replacement therapy. It may also be combined with blood and saliva testing of hormone levels, and the use of pharmacy compounding to obtain hormones in an effort to reach a targeted level of hormones in the body.  Specific hormones used in BHRT include estrone, estradiol, progesterone and available both in FDA-approved manufactured products and as pharmacy-compounded products.

As our body ages, patients experience a natural decrease and imbalances in hormonal activity. These changes are often manifested in many different ways. Often such changes interfere with daily functioning and require medical re-adjustment.

At Zion Clinical Pharmacy we compound Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy products to aid physicians in the treatment of hormonal deficiencies. Our hormones mimic the chemical structure of the body’s natural hormones so the body can function naturally.

Some of the conditions that could be treated with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy include, but are not limited to:
